Are you ignoring the obvious?

Are you ignoring effective marketing ideas?

What’s the one thing you would like to get from your

marketing over the next 12 months?

Chances are you didn’t say; “Increasing brand equity in a crowded and mature marketplace”.

On the other hand, you quite possibly did say something along the lines of; “more customers”, “growth” or simply “more sales”.

Think about it logically and more sales is the ultimate purpose of marketing your business. If you don’t want more sales – or higher value sales – or something along those lines, why would you bother spending your time and money promoting your business in the first place?

So why then, if it’s what we want, does the word ’sales’ evoke such negative reactions?

And more to the point, what would happen if you incorporated some simple sales ideas into your business?

Five simple ideas you don’t need a guru to tell you.

  1. What would happen if you lifted the phone or went a visited some prospects?
  2. If all your staff had some simple sales training, would you sell more?
  3. If you regularly attended networking events, could you meet some likely prospects?
  4. Could a well crafted sales letter – or reworked print ad – get better results?
  5. If you contacted past customers on a regular basis – either with special offers or simply to keep in touch – would they be more or less likely to buy than complete strangers?

In other words, don’t ignore the obvious ideas in search of the ‘prefect marketing strategy’. If ‘more sales’ is what you want, you need to be prepared to do some selling.
