Greenpeace blast Dove in new video

Differentiation / Positioning, Online Marketing

I just came across this new video from Greenpeace which is part of their campaign targeting the makers of Dove soap.

To make Dove soap palm oil is needed and Dove are buying this by-product off companies that are wrecking Indonesia’s rainforests.

The video is an interesting back lash against Dove’s socially and environmentally conscious image. Dove probably aren’t the worst offenders by far - but we see Dove’s image as beautiful, full of “moisturizing lotion, that won’t dry your skin”.

Unfortunately for Dove, when the image a brand portrays doesn’t match the reality, they set themselves up for a fall.

It’s worth a look…
