MagCloud: Print on demand magazine publishing

in Content Marketing, Custom Publishing, Customer Magazines, Resources

Rolled Up MagazinesSpringwise points to a new self-publishing magazine service, MagCloud.

The service allows you to upload your PDFs for free, to be printed – on demand – in glossy magazine format for around 20 cents per page (11p) whether you need ten copies or five hundred.

The idea follows in the wake of the success of print on demand book services like Lulu and Blurb – and, like many of those services, allows you to sell your finished magazine online with MagCloud handling the print, distribution and even subscriptions for you.

For businesses or non-profit groups, this opens up the opportunity to deliver customer magazines or publications aimed at prospects cost effectively and professionally. Previously you would have needed to consider minimum print runs in the thousands to make it viable. Now even a few hundred could be worthwhile.

MagCloud is the latest step in the ongoing move of media out of the hands of the few, and into the hands of the many. Whether it be printed media, audio, video or simply blogging, individuals and smart businesses can now deliver content as, when and how they choose.

Sadly for our UK and Ireland readers, MagCloud only ships in the USA during Beta but for those of you that prefer digital to print you might also try Issuu or Nxtbook which we’ve talked about here previously.

New alternatives are hitting the market all the time – love to see it. In additionto to Issuu and Nxtbook, Zinio’s another great alternative to check out – even in Ireland and the UK

YUDU.com also caters for UK, Ireland and indeed USA/World…

As well as being able to get FREE Digital Magazines you can also upload and use same PDF you use for Magcloud and sell a Digital Edition of your Magazine too ;-)

@imakad – thanks for the heads up, I’ve actually looked at Zinio quite a few times

@les – I’m guessing you do YUDU? It’s not one I’ve come across before but will make sure to check it out. Thanks for the nod.
