Curated Content – Magazine Style

Curated content is something I’ve written about here quite a few times. The idea is simple, there is an awful lot of content available and you can become a trusted resource for your prospective customers by wading through and finding the nuggets.

Springwise points to Stack Magazines, a new UK-based service that allows you to sample various independent magazine titles across the year.

You choose how many editions you would like to receive throughout the year and they choose the best independent magazines as send them to you. You can make a few choices but in essence you’re leaving it in their hands to deliver something new and interesting.

Open to New Sources of Content

It’s early days yet but the business model suggests an important trend. Customers are open to new voices – but need help finding the best.

The proliferation of new media has not dampened our appetites for content but expanded them. Businesses that can help us find great content – like Digg, Stumble or Alltop – or weed out new ideas – like Springwise or Trendhunter – are likely to find a following.

Smart businesses will increasingly look for ways to deliver other people’s content to their customer base. You add value and build trust through your willingness to curate, add context and provide industry specific interpretation.

Just like a museum curator or personal shopper.
