A Happy Hallowe’en to all our readers.

Believe it or not, our lovely little city hosts one of the Europe’s largest Halloween Carnivals. Despite being the wrong side of thirty, I’m quite looking forward to hitting the town (in full costume of course) and mingling with the many tens of thousands - local and visitors - who will hit the streets to party into the small hours.

So why does Derry have such a love for Halloween? Who knows, but it’s the highlight of the year and every bar, restaurant and hotel will be bursting at the seems.

Business lesson: find something and make it your own.

Get your business featured as a case study

RPMC

by Mark Nagurski

I posted the following on UK Business Forums a few days ago but thought I’d send it out to readers here too. If you’d like to see your business featured as a case study, get in touch!

We need small businesses to feature as case studies
and get themselves a bit of free promo

Hi guys,

Hoping I could get some help with this one. We’re putting together a series of case studies of small businesses who are using content to market themselves successfully.

What’s it for:

  • Each case study will be featured with links on our blog
  • Each case study will feature in a regular newspaper column in NI
  • Selected case studies will also feature in an online news release and be promoted through social networks
  • Selected case studies will feature as freelance submissions to small business media - online and off
  • We’ll select the most interesting case studies to be compiled into a free ebook/whitepaper for release (likely early 2009)
  • We’ll also be self-publishing them as a free printed book to give away to clients, prospects and attendees at our workshops etc…

Who are you looking for:

  • Small businesses - must be trading - or non-profit groups
  • Using one or (ideally) more of the following (successfully) to market themselves:
    • Blog
    • Articles - online or off
    • Newsletter
    • Podcast
    • Video
    • Free workshops or public speaking events
    • Whitepapers or ebooks
    • Wikis
    • Forums
    • Any other content-based tactics
  • It would be great if you had some stats or indicators that these have worked - even anecdotal evidence is a start
  • You should ideally not be making money from the content itself - i.e. a business using forums to promote themselves is great not the forum owner, likewise someone running free workshops to promote themselves is perfect, but not someone who makes a living from paid workshops

What do you need:

  • We’ll get you out a quick set of questions by email - if we need to follow up we might need 10 mins on the phone too
  • We’ll send you a copy of the completed case study which you can distribute at your discretion
  • For the ones we select for inclusion in the ebook + printed version we’ll also need some images, headshot, a likely a longer telephone interview

How do we get in touch:

  • Post a comment here
  • Email to mark [at] reallypractical.com
  • Use the contact form on this site

Approaches from PR firms on behalf of clients are welcome.

Huge thanks guys - Mark
